A quaint town on the Adriatic, Trani held great importance in the Middle Ages. Today, it’s more sleepy with a lovely port and a sweet wine named for the town.

Passeggiata
The evening stroll, or passeggiata, is one of the great traditions in Italy. Every day, in every city and town, Italians of all ages promenade before dinner, stopping to chat with neighbors or buy a gelato.
Trani has an incredibly beautiful passeggiata. Start at the Basilica Cattedrale Maria Santissima Assunta and wind your way along the waterfront, past the harbor and up to the Villa Comunale, a gorgeous park with native plants overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Exit out the northwest gate and walk up to the viewpoint. From here, you have an amazing view of water on both sides; the Adriatic to the north and the protected Porto di Trani to the south. Jaw dropping!
